Ukraine Increased the Export of Agricultural Products to the EU by 33%

In 2021, the export of agricultural products from Ukraine to the European Union increased by 33% in monetary terms. Over the past year, companies from our country supplied goods worth $8.3 billion to the EU. The growth was associated both with an increase in the cost of goods and with an increase in the volume of deliveries.

In 2021, Ukraine fully covered quotas for 9 agricultural products, for which there is a special duty-free regime. These include starch (processed and unprocessed), processed tomatoes, honey, cereals, flour, grape and apple juice, poultry, eggs, and processed cereals.

Analyst of the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business Svitlana Lytvyn said that Ukraine was unable to cover the quotas for the supply of sugar and corn to the EU. As for sugar, 87% of the quota was used. It was not totally covered due to a shortage of goods on the Ukrainian market. For corn, only 5% of the quota was used due to rising prices and more attractive export markets.
