Ukraine is among the TOP-5 global agricultural exporters despite the war

The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Mykola Solsky, during his speech at the opening of the International Green Week, emphasized that even despite the war, Ukraine is among the TOP-5 global agricultural exporters.

Among the key food challenges, the minister separately emphasized the blocking of Ukrainian agricultural exports, both at the beginning of the active phase of the war, which was started by the Russian Federation, and the current artificial inspections of ships in the Bosphorus. The latter cause particular turbulence in the food markets and aggravation of the food crisis.

"Ukraine, together with international partners, made maximum efforts to expand new logistics routes, including the launch of a grain corridor. Thanks to this, we remained the guarantor of the world's food security. Even in such difficult conditions, since the beginning of the war, our state has managed to export more than 40 million tons of grain, oil and their processing products to provide food for hundreds of millions of people around the world. Despite everything, Ukraine has retained its position among the TOP-5 global agricultural exporters", he emphasized.

It should be noted that the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitization, Denis Bashlyk, at a briefing during a working trip to Odesa, emphasized that Ukraine, as a guarantor of food security, will continue to provide itself and the world with food.

According to him, currently, despite all the difficulties, Ukraine fully covers its domestic consumption of wheat, which is approximately 6.7 million tons per year.

"And according to pessimistic forecasts for this year, we will have approximately 26 million tons of wheat. That is, we have the opportunity to provide ourselves and the world with food”, said Denys Bashlyk.
