Ukraine Lags Behind Last Year's Export of Sunflower Oil by 30%

Despite the war unleashed by the Russian Federation, Ukraine retains the status of one of the guarantors of world food security. At the same time, it is important to export not only Ukrainian grains but also sunflower processed products – oil and meal. However, the pace of supplies of sunflower oil from Ukraine for export in 2022 decreased.

According to the UBTA report, in 2022, Ukraine will lag behind last year's supply by almost 30%. This year, 2.05 million tons of oil will be supplied to the world market compared to 2.89 million tons of oil in 2021. The pace of deliveries began to increase only in the last two months since it became possible to export sunflower products by sea. In addition, Ukraine managed to increase the capacity of railway transport.

Sunflower oil from Ukraine is exported to 107 countries of the world. The leaders in purchases are the EU countries, which account for 33.6% of world exports. In second place, there are the countries of Southeast Asia with 29%, and other countries of Asia are in third place with 14.9% of total exports. In general, it is sunflower oil that is the leader in the export of sunflower-related products. It accounts for 90.8% of the total export of goods from this category.
