Ukraine May Enter a New Market for the Export of Halal Chicken – France

From 2021, France enters into a new law on the rules for the slaughter of poultry. In particular, all poultry should be gas-stunned prior to slaughter. And this will become a serious problem for the Muslim community, which will not be able to recognize such chicken as being Halal. Thanks to this, Ukraine can get a new market for poultry meat, for Muslims in France. This was reported by the Ukrainian Halal Industry Association.

According to the laws of the Islamic religion, only poultry killed by electric stunning can be considered halal. Some madhhabs even protest against any measures to stun the poultry. However, a new law in France will prohibit the use of electrical discharges, which will cause the Muslim community to face the problem of obtaining poultry meat.

This decision by French lawmakers has already been severely criticized by the Muslim community in France. Its representatives said that the gas stunning makes it impossible to comply with the principles of ritual Halal slaughter. Muslims in France appealed to the authorities but received no response.

Representatives of the Ukrainian Halal Industry Association stated that Ukraine is able to cover France's needs for halal chicken. The organization believes that this market is promising and opens up excellent opportunities for Ukrainian manufacturers. The Association also recalled that Ukrainian halal chicken is actively imported by various Islamic countries. In 2020, the leaders in this area were Saudi Arabia, Mauritania, Maldives, Singapore, and Iraq.
