Ukraine received the Food Security Strategy until 2027
The government approved the Food Security Strategy of Ukraine for the period until 2027. As the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal stated, the approved document contains three key goals. The first consists in stimulating the development of agricultural production and filling the food market. The second goal is to ensure the availability of food for all population groups, and the third is to strengthen the security component. This concerns the formation of the state reserve, restoration of commodity chains, demining of land and adaptation to climate change.
According to the government official, Ukraine will continue to be able to feed itself and countries that are in dire need of food. That is, our country retains the status of one of the guarantors of global food security.
In turn, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food specified the algorithm for implementing the Food Security Strategy of Ukraine until 2027. Achieving the goals of the Strategy is envisaged in two stages. In particular, at the first stage (2024-2026 years), the formation and implementation of measures to support producers aimed at the development of branches of the agro-industrial complex, in particular, producers of organic products, should take place. The second stage (during 2027) provides for the restoration of food industry enterprises at the level of united territorial communities, administrative-territorial units and the state as a whole.
Implementation of the strategy will make it possible to form a system of food security of the state resistant to threats; create conditions for food independence of the country and sustainable development of the agricultural sector of the economy; ensure full access of the population to safe food products in sufficient quantity, the government believes.
