Ukraine will receive warships to protect grain carriers, and the European Commission will finance the restoration of Ukrainian ports

As President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said at the Grain from Ukraine conference, Ukraine managed to agree with its partners on escorting grain carriers at sea in order to guarantee their safety.

"We already have concrete agreements on receiving ships. This is a matter of the near future," Zelenskyy said.

In addition, Odesa will be protected by additional air defense systems, which have already been agreed with partners.

In turn, the European Commission will allocate 50 million euros for the restoration of Ukrainian ports that suffered as a result of Russian attacks. In a letter to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, it is stated that 50 million euros from the EU for the rapid repair and renewal of the infrastructure of Ukrainian ports should contribute to the further export of agricultural products to the world market.

"Despite the war, Ukraine continues to feed the world. You can count on the EU in these efforts. We continue to expand our "solidarity bands" and will allocate 50 million euros for the repair of your port infrastructure. Together we send Ukrainian grain to the world," wrote Ursula von der Leyen.

It will be recalled that in 2023, the transshipment of grain in the ports of Ukraine increased by 70%. In 10 months of 2023, seaports of Ukraine processed more than 46 million tons of cargo.
