Zelensky signed a law on the launch of the land market in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky signed the Law "On Amending Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Conditions for the Turnover of Agricultural Land" No. 552-IX.

“This is a historic moment for all Ukrainians and for me personally. Ukraine has been waiting for this law since independence. It was not an easy fight. But we knew that we were doing this for the Ukrainians, ”said Vladimir Zelensky.

In particular, the law provides that from July 1, 2021, ownership of land plots of agricultural purpose with an area of ​​up to 100 hectares may be acquired exclusively by citizens of Ukraine.

According to the report, from January 1, 2024, legal entities owned by Ukrainians will also receive such an opportunity. They will be able to buy up to 10 thousand hectares of land. The sale of state and communal lands is also prohibited. According to the signed law, the question of whether to grant foreigners the right to buy land will be decided in a referendum.


In addition, the law will ensure the full realization of the right of private ownership of agricultural land for citizens of Ukraine, it will contribute to a significant expansion of investment opportunities in the agricultural sector, the report said.

Recall that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted bill No. 2178-10 “On Amending Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Turnover of Agricultural Land” in the second reading.
