Ukraine introduced a ban on the export of buckwheat

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine introduced a ban on the export of buckwheat until July 1 at an extraordinary meeting of the Government.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry.

The ban on the export of buckwheat is a temporary measure necessary to protect the domestic market. The Ministry indicated that Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan temporarily closed their borders for the export of buckwheat.

“Now the situation in the Ukrainian market is stable. The government is constantly in dialogue with manufacturers and retailers. Ukraine will negotiate with the main producing countries to lift bans in order to maintain international food security and restore normal international trade conditions, ”the ministry said.

So, the decree introduces a temporary regime for licensing and quotas for the export of buckwheat and peeled buckwheat grain (without fruit cover). In particular, the quota volume for these goods was set to zero (according to codes according to UKVED 1008 10 00 00 and 1104 29 17 00).

The relevant changes, according to the Ministry of Economy, were made in Appendix 1 to Resolution No. 1109 “Quota volumes of goods whose export is subject to licensing in 2020”.

Recall that from the beginning of the 2019/20 marketing year (July 2019 - June 2020) as of April 1, 2020, grain exports from Ukraine reached 46.04 million tons.
